Atle Sommer will take the reins in the Ship Management unit of Grieg Star come 2021. He will join the company this week for a transition period.
From the 1st of January, Atle Sommer is the new head of Grieg Star’s Ship Management unit. He joined the company as a consultant on the 12th of October, and on the same day, he met the employees worldwide in a Teams meeting.

With Atle as head of Ship Management, I am confident we have the right team to lead our units towards a profitable and sustainable future,” Grieg Star Group CEO Matt Duke says.
Atle has 18 years of experience from the Royal Norwegian Navy, as Master, Head of Ops and from the Navy’s think-tank developing new operational concepts and strategies. After that, he had nine years with Seatrans, working up from Head of HR and Crewing to Managing Director. Later he joined GC Rieber Shipping as COO and as CEO of their Ship Management division, before being a Partner in Idevekst Energi, assisting both early phase, public and larger international companies succeed.
